Website Design
I have been designing websites for nearly four years now, initially concentrating on simple HTML pages until I descovered Flash. I have been designing, building and coding websites in Flash and ActionScript for around three years and around two years ago I began coding in CSS, PHP, MySQL and XHTML. I now code to W3C standards wherever possible, and rarely ever use tables, favouring CSS-P to keep markup simple and filesizes low.
I have recently completed a HND in Computing at York College, providing me with qualifications in Multimedia & Internet Development, as well as Website Management. During this course there were two major assignments that were designed to review and monitor my skills in Identifying where IT solutions were required, Designing the solution whilst managing my own time and other assignments, and sucessfully Implementing the complete solution, to the initial specifications and deadline. For both of these assignments I constructed websites, the first was a Flash site which loaded it's data from an external set of text files in order to display information on the new FdSc at York College. The second was a full PHP MySQL content managment system, the GallerySite. Both of these sites go well beyond the scope of the standard HND in Computing, drawing on knowledge and techniques that I have researched in my spare time, providing me with a knowledge and understanding of web concepts that most other HND graduates do not possess.
Details of these sites, plus others developed during my course, and for small to medium enterprises, can be found by using the menu at the top of the page. Unfortunatly due to college being crap my sites that were developed for my course are no longer online! So some may not be available to vist.
